The extroversion of the 2021 Rosé is apparent before it even hits the glass, with a brilliant pale pink color.  The aromatics are primary and lush with fresh strawberries, dried watermelon and tropical fruit jumping out of glass. The palate is disarmingly round and creamy but balanced with ample fresh acidity and a lengthy finish that shows a lovely dance of citrus pith and fruit nougat.  It ready for the patio.

The 2021 Fanatic’s color is a deep and rich gold, with the intense aromatics to follow: lime zest, Meyer Lemon, freshly zested grapefruit and fresh apricot. The palate is elegant and plush, with bracingly crisp acidity and a wave of honey and green tropical fruit. The delightful sense of fruit pith flows into the lengthy finish, adding saline minerality and fresh cut herbs.

The 2020 Viognier is a versatile combination of expressive fruit, perky minerality and lush texture. The aromas are intense and complex: honeysuckle, jasmine, fresh peach, honeycomb, green papaya and slate. The palate is full and weighty, full-fruited with lemon zest, nectarine and raw honey leading into a lengthy, pith and mineral-driven finish.

The 2019 version of the Bos could be the best vintage yet.  Opaque, dark color hints at what’s in the glass: red and black cherries, blackberry bramble and dark chocolate intermix with baking spice and Eucalyptus.  The palate is sexy, silky and full-bodied but also fresh and refined with plenty of dark fruit, mouthcoating, plush tannins and a lengthy finish that goes on and on.  Yummy. 

The 2019 Malbec Red Mountain is a stunner. From the moment it hits the glass, it shows intensity with a deep purple color and  complex, swirling aromas. Violets, dark berries, dark chocolate and fresh herbs explode from the glass. The weight on the palate is like cream; rich with minerality, spice and silky texture. It still shows freshness and finesse, and the long finish is absolutely mouthwatering. Delicious.

The 2019 Boushey Vineyard Syrah is a vibrant, deep purple in the glass. The aromas are deep and expressive: ripe blackberries and marionberries accented by ground spices and sandalwood. It explodes on the palate, with fine silky tannins and rich texture supporting powerful dark fruit, cracked coffee bean and cocoa. It isn’t heavy or jammy in the least, but finishes spicy and savory, with black olives and dried herbs leaving a lasting impression.

The 2019 Coalesce is our Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet, Merlot and Petit Verdot, all from Red Mountain. It continues the theme of the 2019 red wines…plushly textured, rich and elegant. But this sultry fella also has a purity of fruit and aromatic complexity uncommon for a Red Mountain wine this young, making it unusually smooth and harmonious. Wine critic Robert Parker called it “delightful.” We couldn’t agree more.

The 2019 Old Vine Grenache is an almost crystalline, ruby hue.  The aromas are expansive and lifted: rose petal, red raspberry and cherry, cranberry cordial and orange zest.  The palate is penetrating but lush, with mouthwatering fruit intermingling with salinity, white pepper and exotic spice.  The finish is deep and lengthy: minerality, sea salt, iodine and fresh raspberries.  Beautiful texture throughout. This is the first, and only, of the 2019 reds that we’re releasing this year…and that’s absolutely intentional. We loved the freshness and intensity that has developed as it’s grown in barrel and wanted to be able to capture that vibrancy in bottle.  And, frankly, we wanted some for the Summer!

Heart of the Hill’s characteristic darkness is evident from the moment the 2019 hits the glass. At almost three years post-harvest, it’s expressive and extroverted, with oodles of black raspberries and plums, graphite/lead pencil, leather and wet stone. The palate is delightfully fresh, addictively silky. While possessing ample structure, the tannin is ultra-fine and unusually integrated, creating a lengthy, complete finish that goes on for over a minute.  Simply dazzling.
